"MISERABLE IS WHAT YOUR WHOLE CREW WILL BE IF YOU'RE NOT ORIGINAL AND YOU SHOW NO STRATEGY* (Phife Dawg, 1996)

"LEMONADE WAS A POPULAR DRINK AND IT STILL IS, I GOT MORE PROPS AND STUNTS THAN BRUCE WILLIS"
(Guru, 1994)

"VIVEVO SEMPRE IN UNA SPECIE DI STATO DI PANICO, DOVETTI DORMIRE NEI GARAGE. ERO COMPLETAMENTE DISORIENTATO. LA COSA PEGGIORE ERA CHE NESSUNO COMPRENDEVA LA MIA MUSICA"
(Bird)

I woke to the very sad news today that Adam Yauch aka MCA from the Beastie Boys had lost his battle with cancer. As many of you who would check this page would probably realize I am a music lover across many genres but hip hop is my first love, and the Beastie Boys were a huge influence on me when I was growing up. I still count Pauls Boutique amongst my most valuable (not in monetary sense obviously, but something far more important) records, not only because it was the record i listened to the most when my parents broke up, but I still to this day think the Dust Brothers production on that record was so far ahead of its time its not funny. I really dont know what else to say at this point, so I offer you this 90 minute mix of beastie boys classics, remixes and rareties, mixed live and predominantly off of vinyl (except for Tristan Dee’s great remix of An Open Letter To NYC available here http://soundcloud.com/tristandee/beastie-boys-an-open-letter-to) hope you enjoy

Cause I’m a specializer, rhyme reviser
Ain’t selling out to advertisers
What you get is what you see
And you won’t see me out there advertising
See I like to party not drink Bacardi ‘Cause I’m not looking to throw up on nobody
Known for my spiel like wheelie one wheel
‘Cause this is like having a delicious meal
